About Blanking Machine

What is blanking?

Blanking or cutting relatively thin and soft material (e.g., paper, film, felt, fabric), hard material (e.g., rubber, sponge, plastic container, function film such as PET, polarized/shield/reflection/light diffusion film, plywood and cardboard) by means of fix-figured Die tools (generally Thomson Die) . Blanking machine is used for the above operation.
Purposes of blanked materials:Paper goods, stationery, packaging materials, packings for electric appliances, sound-proof materials and airbags for automobiles, precision parts for fax and mobile phone, function films for LCD etc.

About Die

Thomson Die (also called "Victorian Die") is generally used for blanking works, especially for paper goods.
There are other Dies such as chisels, Swedish steel Die, however, 95% of recent users employ Thomson Dies.2 companies manufacture blades for Thomson Dies in Japan and many Die manufactuers adopting their blades.
Each Die manufacturer has its own special market. Also studies on Dies are recently advanced, therefore Titan Die and chemical-treated and high-precised thin blades (Pinaccle Die) are being employed.
Please use these Dies for your blanking accommodation. We are pleased to advise you about blades and Dies.

About Half-cut

Blanking only necessary upper layers which you want on laminated multi-layer materials.
Generally the thickness of the lower layer is 0.01mm and over. This Half-cut blanking is effective in your blanking accommodation. Our machines are able to control the blanking height.

About Blanking machine for sheet and roll material

Progressive blanking is a well-known blanking method for metal press machine.
When making thin ring packing (O.D. 10mm, I.D. 9mm) with PET film for insulating, there are 2 types of Dies.
1. All-in-one Die (Fig. 1)
2. Progressive feed Die (Fig. 2)
Generally the Die blade's thickness is 0.7mm, therefore it causes problems as below:
- Difficulty of making All-in-one Die
- Remains blanked material between the blades
- Deformation of blanked material

Adopting progressive feed Thomson Die can solve these problems. This type is also able to make multi-cavity Die and very convenient, however, it is necessary to install progressive feeding system on the blanking machine.Our machines have a high-precision feeding system on PAL500 etc.
These machines can serve for blanking complicated figures and thick and hard materials such as resin plates and plywoods.

About positioning blanking work

Needs for positioning blanking products with high-precision, such as print products, flexible printed circuits (FPC) and function films, are increased more and more.
We have a product lineup of blanking machines with high-precision positioning system.Conventional machines used outlines of products or made guide pin holes then insert the holes into guide pins for positioning.Therefore, blanking precision is influenced by operators' skills and productivity is limited.Recently, needs for blanking precision become higher and demands for positioning blanking are increased.
Our brilliant machines are able to recognize printing marks, outlines, print characteristics and 3-D images then position with higher speed, this sophisticated system can supply higher value-added products by linking with our blanking machine.Each blanking machine can install the above automatic positioning system (APS series). About Servo press

In addition to conventional machines such as double-crank blanking machines and hydraulic blanking machines, needs for recent-developed servo press machines are increasing.
This servo press machine is a blanking machine which drives its blanking unit by controlling a servo motor. This machine is able to set blanking speed, position and applied pressure optionally, and also make test-blanking on new materials easily.
It is able to combine a servo motor and crank system (SCP type) and it breathes fresh air into conventional blanking operations.

About Multiple processing machine

Especially for roll material processing. front/rear units, unwinding unit, laminating unit, product taking-out unit, waste-winding unit and product loading unit are added to blanking machines and such machies are called multiple processing machines.

About Options

We can provide optional equipments for our blanking machines. e.g., Sheet cutter, Slitter, Laminator, Automatic dimension measurement instrument, Die rack. Please ask us in details.

  • Sheet cutter (SW type, CW type)

    Sheet cutter is a machine which cuts roll material to sheet material, and its cutting method is different by material and material width. There are several cutting methods such as shearing type, guillotine type, movable round blade type etc. and the type is selected depending on material. Also there are 2 types of material feeding (Nip-roll type and Grip feeder type) and generally Nip-roll type is selected. In order to prevent the surface of material from occuring scratches, we recommend Grip feeder type (CW type).

  • Slitter

    Slitter is a machine which slits roll material to designed width then winds the material again.
    1 axis slitter and 2 axes slitters are selected depending on roll material, slit width, slit speed and slit precision.

  • Laminator

    Laminator is a machine to laminate more than 2 kinds of materials and its usage is for laminating multi-layered materials, adhesive tapes (one side or both sides) etc.
